We, a group of engineering
students, are creating this blog in order to better inform the public about
engineering and to explain misconceptions about the field. Our goal for this
blog is to familiarize the public of the different types of engineering and to
show the large field that engineering covers. We hope this blog aids anyone who
is thinking about studying engineering or provides new information and enhances
your understanding of everything it covers.
My name is Brendan O’Connor, but most of my friends call me Buck. I am a packaging engineering major studying at Michigan State University. I come from Midland, Michigan where I spent my days hanging out and adventuring with my friends. Backpacking, camping, fishing, hiking, and snowboarding are all ways that we keep ourselves from getting caught up in the world around us. My general curiosity and broad view on life is what initially attracted me to both engineering and the packaging aspect of it.
My name is Sadab and I am
from Northville, Michigan. I am a student at Michigan State University and I am
majoring in mechanical engineering. I chose mechanical engineering as my major
because growing up I had always been very interested in the design and building
of cars. Living in the Metro Detroit area also aided in my decision as the
headquarters of Ford and GM are located close by and I was always around people
who worked for the major car companies. My goal after graduating is to find a
position at a car company in Michigan.
Hi, my name is Kevin Chung
and I am from Livonia, Michigan. I am a freshman at Michigan State University
and my major is mechanical engineering. I am interested in my profession
because I like to know how the mechanics of machines work, and I like creating
new things to improve existing things.
Hey y'all, my name is Noemie Melo and
I am from Brownsville, Texas. I am currently pursuing a major in biomedical
engineering as a student at Michigan State University. Growing up, I never
really knew what engineers did or where they work and so on, so I decided to look into it
and found myself to be really interested in the field. I recently did some research on engineering and
another reason why I am so intrigued about this field is because there are not many girl
engineers and according to studies, it is said to be a “man’s job” and I would
like to prove that it is not.
